@NerdyPotato Why do so many people fail to understand that they are soldiers carrying out their duty to their monarch???

@HootyTheNightOwl in all fairness, the uniforms don't seem very practical and the changing of guards is marketed as a tourist attraction. So I understand people may think it's just for show when watching a video of them.

But once you get there, there is no excuse anymore. There are plenty of signs and explanations of what they are there for. If you get close enough to touch them or be touched by them, you can't have missed the protocols.

@NerdyPotato My mum once told me how she and sperm donor went to the Palace and tried to make one of the Queen's guards laugh - they managed to get a smirk out of him.

No, I doubt that the uniform is very practical - particularly in hot weather.

What you might not see in many videos of changing the guard is that they have a guy out front who shouts "Make way for the Queen's guard" - so most people will know that the guard is on the move and you need to stand aside to let them all pass.
