I get alot of speeding tickets

I think its bullshit it makes me so angry and no I'm not a bad driver or even someone that really speeds, yet I get 3 or 4 tickets a year.
I travel for work therefore I drive way more than most people. I travel about 1/6 of what a long haul trucker does.
And my speeding tickets are always baloney. Today I got one going 48 in a 30 on a highway. If you miss the tiny sign that changes the speed from 45 to 30 by one block a cop using radar is waiting behind a bush to snag you.
I think that the way tiny cities use speed traps to pad their pockets should be illegal. Speedlimit postings should be easily noticeable perhaps by flashing light or change in road design like I have seen in Europe when its such a drastic change of speed on a highway in the middle of no where.
A mile or so prior to where I got the tickets the flashing light sign said 55 and thats the last one that I saw.

Those small towns always get you. And yes, they don't give you very much warning with the signs. I think they especially prey on out of towners.

We got pulled over in one even though we were in the process of slowing down. It was the middle of the night. We were traveling with our infant son. His bright lights woke him up and he started screaming/crying. You'd think the cop would have some sympathy and let us off with a warning, but no, he proceeded to take his sweet time writing the ticket out.

@midnightrose If it was fair I wouldn't mind but yes its all a game. They do prey on those unfamiliar with the road. The signs are easily missed unless you glue your eye to the side of the road and I also have been given a ticket as I was slowing down but they wait just past the sign.

@midnightrose In Europe there are standards that regulate the placing of speed limit signs and reminders and at least in the UK the fines go to the Treasury not to the local authority I think. It's very rare for me to be able to honestly say that I don't know what the speed limit is and my car almost always recognizes them anyway.

@ninalanyon Dorset Police has erected roadside warning signs, saying "No Excuse!" - for breaking speed-limits and the laws on driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

They are right: there isn't an excuse.

The fines do go to the Treasury but it seems County Councils still have to foot the bill for maintaining fixed speed-cameras, and some at least simply turned them off. Though as a motorist you would not know if a camera is working or not.... unless you trigger it.

A sat-nav will show the limits - and may warn of installed (not mobile) speed-cameras - but that's only an y help if you keep it up-to-date and of course, not everyone has such a system, or switches it on for every journey.

(I do not need use the "sat-nag" as a friend calls it, on most of my journeys but still sometimes turn it on even then just to keep its internal battery charged.)
