Best summer vacation spots for Colorado??

I use to live in Colorado for about 10 years, I moved when I was 13. I lived about 45 minutes from Denver, right in the middle of Brighton and Thorton. The only places I ever went were the Rockies, the Red Rocks, and Denver. I'd like a decent spot with trails for ATVs, hiking, swimming, etc...
Any ideas?
