I'd not recommend hostels but look for cheap B&B places that's a good way or Airb&b too

Fly standby.........if you have a GPS used for driving here update it with UK maps and pack it. (Comes in really handy in driving a rental car---and they are VERY expensive add-ons when you rent a car there). Look up all the travel apps you can find that give you preset driving routes with places to stay and restaurant recommends. You can do it on a budget waaay cheaper than you think. Do EVERYTHING on credit cards......money exchange cheapest rates are on cards/atms-----plus card protection for things you buy that are rip-offs.....but carry some Euros. If you check your credit card before going some offer "Trip Cancellation Coverage"--get a card with that perk on it. (Better than trip insurance if a flight is cancelled, etc.) Remember small hostiles and restaurants don't take credit cards sometimes.

It can be cheaper to go abroad than stay here for holidays

Scotlands nice, don't do hostels in England or you'll get robbed.

as someone who has lived in eng, scotland and wales as part of my job i have to say that you will love the uk. we have an amazing culture..The people are warm amd friendly..Like most major countries we have bad people. london is ok but the real uk is outside of london

Then you can use Ryan Air in Europe

PS---Consider travelling with a friend. A lot of rooms are based on double occupancy. If you are alone--you pay the full price for the room. Half is better. lol

uk here. the whole of the uk has some gorgeous sites to go visit, lots of historical places just depends on what you want to see
