@sarabee1995 No,i was an infantry squad leader with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam from Aug. '66 to Aug. '67 but since we were an Airborne unit we depended on the Air Force.The first ever plane i parachuted from was a Fairchild C-119 so called Flying Boxcar which older A.F guys referred to as "The Widow Maker".My user name comes from me being a private pilot.Take care!

@luv2fly352 Airborne??? Respect! I did a tandem jump from 10,000 feet when I turned 18 and it was amazing ... but you guys!! Omg, no need for a spare chute when you're dropping from under 1,000'!!

@sarabee1995 If you should ever locate or see a copy of Life Magazine from March 10,1967 you'll see photos of the 173rd Airborne Brigade making the first combat jump in Vietnam since the Korean War.I was on that historic jump.An original copy of the magazine still sits on my coffee table at home.

@luv2fly352 Don't worry. I didn't take it that way at all. Both were very interesting stories. I bet you have a ton.

@sarabee1995 Even when my wife was alive,i never discussed it.The only place i ever discussed it was in my ptsd group made up solely of other combat veterans.We meet once a week at the V.A. for an hour and a half.Not to tell or trade war stories but how best to manage the severe and chronic ptsd we all have and to support one another.
