If capital of Canada is Ottawa, why is Toronto famous?

Why is New York famous? Why is Sydney famous? Why is Johannesburg famous? Why don’t countries just cut the confusion and make the most famous city their capital 😒

@Mildreadful In the case of the US it's because the South didn't want the capitol to be so far north.
