What is it like to go on holiday alone?

I've recently renewed my passport and feel i'm missing out on life. i haven't been abroad for 12 years and would really like to experience solo travel but i'm unsure about how to go about it. I've never travelled on my own before so just looking for advice if anyone can give any. Thanks

It's v cool, I had money and the need to get away, so I did on my own. I met more interesting people I would have ever met if I was with someone.
