Mifuneyama Rakuen, a park in Takeo, Saga which often shows up in rankings of Japan’s most popular sightseeing destinations. 170 years ago, the ruling shogunate’s own scenic painters were brought from Kyoto to make concept art for the park.
Three years were then spent to make the park, which has stunning views of Mifuneyama’s cliffs as its backdrop. Come and enjoy the 5,000 blossoming cherry trees and 50,000 azaleas during spring, or foliage lit up at night-time during autumn.
Mt. Mifune in Takeo city is also known as "Mt. Karafune" (which literally means "Chinese ship") due to its resemblance to one. Mifuneyama Rakuen is a park which sprawls out on the western foot of this mountain.
In spring the park is reminiscent of a Shan shui painting, with 5000 cherry blossom trees and 50,000 azaleas all blooming against a backdrop of the rugged cliff of Mt. Mifune. The park hosts a variety of events such as tea parties and photography sessions.
