1. Get out of the house. It could be something small like a walk or volunteering for a few hours a week.
2. Connect with your elderly parents, they won't be around forever.
3. Keep yourself occupied, when you have nothing to do it can make you feel ten times more lonely than you already feel.
If I woke up from a horrible nightmare, I would probably distract myself by getting something to eat and turning on the TV.
