Under the midnight moon's bitter cold embrace,
Where tears freeze and fears find their place,
A friend so small, in the palm it rests,
Yet, is it a friend or a captive guest?
In the quiet night, it softly pleads,
"Just one more time," the desperate needs,
But if it's a friend, why the hidden cries?
In the palm, it lingers, where darkness lies.
Dear soul, let not a friend be confined,
In the grip of control, true bonds unwind,
A friend walks beside, hand in hand,
Not in the palm, where manipulations stand.
Release the captive echoes, set them free,
For genuine friendship blooms like a tree,
No puppeteer's hold, no puppetry,
Just hearts entwined in true unity.
If your hand finds none, fear not, my friend,
A hand extends, a companion to lend,
In the vast expanse where connections start,
Hold a hand, not a captive heart.
Let the morning rise, seasons unfold,
In the voice of peace, let the tale be told,
No more in the palm, but side by side,
Friendship's journey, forever our guide.

@MrMortal nice poetry, and glad you're interpreting it to being friendship based. Very nice outlook to something dark.

@RedGrizzly It was you that titled it a 'familiar friend', I merely spun in a different angle to offer you an alternative form of friendship
ps. offer still stands :-)
