Windows users may want to know that there's no built-in check for updates or update process for 7-Zip. Instead, download a new version, install it, and it will replace the old version.

@ElwoodBlues You can check for updates with 3rd party tools too. Just checked. Patch My PC Does in fact check 7 zip.

But Patch MY PC is not "Built in" by default. So if you want to go down that route you're going to have to install it the old fashioned way. Download it's latest, and install it.
