I Freaking Hate Microsoft Windows

I was asked to bring a old 10 year computer a back to life. It has a Icore 7 5.6 GHz Proc, 10 Gigs of ram

It only running a 500 Gig Sata hard drive and 2 Blueray burner. Its nothing special just a full size ATX Full size motherboard

But it has to have Windows XP and Windows 7. Because that what they want.

Thing I hate about Windows is propriety software system and not open source.

So here I am getting all kinds of .DLL, MSI.chm and other driver errors and Microsoft Windows no longer supports and gigabyte new driver updates are not compatible with the older OS.

Any Linux OS I can just search the internet or rewrite the Microsoft code to work for Linux

You can install win 7 and upgrade it, it should work with the drivers.

If you know the chipset, you can try support.dell.com to find the zipped driver files.

Also the manufacturer site of the chipset and other components should have the compatible driver files.
Long process but should work.

Custom built computer. Dell didn't build it. I did like 10 years ago
@HumanEarth yes I know.

When you check the site, and search the manufacturer name, let's say Broadcom, you will see the forums and driver files
What I hate the most are security programs that were once bought and outright owned, Like Norton, Iolo, McAfee, Kapersky, etc., that are now annual subscriptions that are $100.

I don't blame you and they are mostly are a scam. In the first place.

I stopped using all them back in XP days when I started teaching myself code and script and that's when I learned how much they hack our computers
@HumanEarth I came across an interview Peter Norton once did in the 1980's, he said in order to catch hackers and crackers, viruses and malware traps often had to be implemented by larger corporations, utilities, universities/colleges, and government installations, but those came with a risk of them entering into the private home system, which is why Norton anti virus and other such programs were necessary for the home user. The funny thing is that I came across it in a bbs newsgroup in 1991, but I cannot find it anywhere online now.
