Chinese company patents technology to make 3nm chips. A major blow to Biden after his efforts to ban China from EUV technology.

We were told just last year it was impossible for the Chinese to make anything better than 15 nm. "They don't have the technology," said Biden. According to experts, it would take China 15 to 20 years to develop this technology. Soon after, China shocked the world when they developed 7 nm chips for Huawei phones. How did they do it? The West postulated China was using old DUV lithography technology it imported prior to sanctions. Little did they know China was developing its own chip making technology with the Chinese chip manufacturer SMIC.

Currently one dutch company, ASML, has a monopoly on EUV technology. Companies like Intel and TSMC are using $300 million EUV machines produced by ASML. Turns out, you don't need EUV technology to make 3 nm chips. China has figured out a way to make 3 nm chips through a multi-patterning technique using DUV technology developed in their own country. EUV is still be a huge leap forward and offer more scalability as it produces light up to 14 times shorter than DUV light. Companies like tsmc and Intel are already in the process of making 2 nm nodes. This puts China behind the West in chip manufacturing technology. As for now, China's rapid development in chip technology looks promising. According to Moore's law, the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles about every two years. China has managed to go from 15 nm to 3 nm in less than a year. Something that took Western companies 15 years to do, with billions of dollars, and the collective efforts of trillion dollar Tech companies .

I'm not sure that makes sense. You can't fit too many transistors on a 3nm die, since atoms are only spaced by about 0.2nm

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP The chip is manufactured using 3 nm node.
