Oh God, I just had the Equivalent of a Shower thought.

I just had an idea that dawned on me at 7am, the same way shower thoughts hit some people who live much more active and busy lifestyles than I do since the shower is the only place where they're not under continuous pressure, and actually get a moment to relax and it's where they decompress, whereas for me, I don't work, although I study, but on my schedule.
It just dawned on me at 6 am that we should buy and implement network attached storage like the rest of the IT savvy world and only have not due to Budgetary Concerns, but it's dawning on me there is probably a NAS that is a SMART NAS and for you dumb dumb tech illiterates that's Smart Network attached storage, and why would you want a SMART NAS? You want one that actually uses APPs and these days whenever something actually uses Apps We now call it "Smart, INSERT DEVICE NAME HERE"
Like our Roku Converts Dumb TV to Smart TV over The HDMI port, but, to break that down into English my Roku device connects to my TV with an HDMI cable and enables my Rather primitive and Dumb TV to utilize Applications that can do things like Stream Video Files over Internal Network from a Device to the TV and play it back to watch with an application called Plex.
I am in effect my own Netflix.
But I am starting to realize I do not Run the Plex Server continuously as It runs straight out of my Daily Driver, and I'm not constantly watching Video on that TV.
And To make this even Dumber for you, and break that Slingo Down, the Client Server model is understood as the Client request something and the server fulfills it, well...
In this Example, I utilize a Plex Server in order to Send the Video Content to the Plex client which runs on the ROKU that we purchased, which sole job is to convert our dumb television into as smart app utilizing one.

Which in effect enables my Pirate Cinema to be ported from my Laptop to the TV.
The PLEX client request the Videos from the Plex SERVER, which sends it to the client, which then PLAYS the Data it's receiving for the End user, which is me basically just trying to implement a solution that allows to me to take Video files from my computer/laptop and play them on my TV which among other advantages has a much larger Screen.

But, on reflection I'm realizing that a SMART NAS would enable me to move those video files over to it and leave it running continuously such that myself and anyone who knew how to operate the remote control to get to the Plex App or that I could teach this skill set would have 24/7 access to it as I personally, though a Dinosaur of the tech industry as I manage my own data and don't you know, rely exclusively on Streaming services, but have BUILT MY OWN streaming service DOING THIS, but that streaming service is down most of the time, as in when I'm not watching video on the TV in the family room with mom.
But if somehow I can teach her how to switch modes on the TV over to the Roku, This means when she wants to rewatch that content she'd have access to it whenever she wanted to.
I, don't run the Server continuously for the express reason that I like to minimize the amount of applications running at any one time, and Tabs on my browser in order to minimize the utilization of Computer resources, even though, in the present age, there's an abundance of them.
I tried, to implement Jellyfin, which is the same thing as PLEX, but open source. But my Gentoo box just didn't handle it out of the box as install and play, and so I didn't know how to fix those errors.
But what I can tell you, is that if I had a SMART NAS, I could it up as my entire Families Pirate Cinema and configure it too to access Opensubtitles.org by default.
As we are, Like Subtitles required locally, and STRONGLY urged and requested Non locally.
Not due to my being deaf, but personally sometimes I CAN HEAR people and my speakers, but hearing and comprehending are two very different things as I've discovered and sometimes on the Journey from our Inner ear to our brain, Soundwaves can sometimes just be incomprehensible even if heard.
I've had to explain to people before like, no I CAN HEAR YOU, I just can't UNDERSTAND you, because of your Accent for example. I'm not used to it, if you give me time, and keep talking to me, eventually I will adapt, but you might have to say it and WRITE what you're trying to say down on paper in English so that my brain can make those associations and gradually if you can speak and write in English this Barrier will evaporate, but it is a Gradual and dumb process.
With Foreigners Especially it takes time to really pierce the way they pronounce things, and as a Xerophile, needless to say, I interact with them frequently. Basically, if English isn't your native tongue, well, you wouldn't be the first person I've gotten to know like that.
In basic English, that Paragraph above means I'm attracted to foreign women.

But for those asking what this solution would do for my Family and not me personally, it would mean they could access the Video content that I download 24/7, including, honestly, the stuff that we don't necessarily watch together.

Such that if they knew how to switch modes on the TV from the Cable box to the Roku, they'd be able to access those videos at any time, including if they woke up at 3:15 AM and Their AV/Tech, that's me, was indisposed and asleep.

And it only requires knowing PLEX and ONE button on the Remote the Cable Company gave us. ONE. The Input Select button, which sole purpose is to flip between HDMI port #1 and HDMI port #2 and any other ports the TV supports and also do the Reverse when you're done.
