problems with wind, solar power yet to be resolved

in europe during the latest heat wave the solar power panels are failing due to the intense heat. they were designed for optimum temperature of 75F. german industry requiring great need of power are closing. could be an opportunity for american industry here.

texas has its own power grid and in the western part of state where 11,000 windmills are located, they must be shut down when most needed . the grid is unable to transfer the power to where it is required.

Nevertheless, Texas generates 1/3rd of its electric power from its windmills. The problems they had were related to not winterizing the windmills.

Yes, there are issues with wind and solar, but for the most part, these technologies are working, and evolving.

@Northwest im not certain how these things are manufactured, but ive seen the turbines turning on a farm south of me both in 90 degree temps and frigid temps.

@Carla The bulk of our (constantly expanding) wind farms, in Washington State, are in the Eastern part of the state, where the temperature ranges is -30F to +115F. They work fine.

Like car, they need maintenance: lubricants, insulation for certain electric/electronic parts, etc. That's what they failed to do in Texas. They're retrofitting, now that they realized that climate change is real, even if the voters there have yet to figure that out.

@Northwest i reckon they figure they can treat their windmills like they do their pipelines and electrical grids. Wait till they leak and fail, then...crisis management.

If only Germany had nuclear plants.. ah right, they're shutting it down because Russian gas looked "greener", at least until Russia caught them by the b#lls
