Android and iPhones are so different

If car manufacturers made their cars that different you would need licenses to drive every different manufacturer.

Would you expect to get a spare part for a Volvo and be able to use it on a Chevy, do you?

You can still use an iPhone and an Android on the same network from the same carrier.

@Jonjdw Yes, but why would the average consumer care about what's inside, if all they want is access the web? Just as I don't care what's inside my car, as long as it gets me from point A to point B on a regularly paved road.

they are flipped, driving a right-hand drive isn't that different from a left-hand drive

there was also a time in the evolution of cars where the stick was on the outside of a car

Apple is talking about making a car. You'll probably need a special license you buy from apple and it will only work on certain roads.
