Does volume effect how immersed you are in a movie or video game ?

Does having your volume up really loud especialy with a surround sound setup increase the immersion of the movie your watching or video game your playing ?

For video games yes. Sometimes you need to hear something when you are exploring. Movies sometimes can be the same especially for horror.

Sometimes the audio mix is bad or the flat screen TV speakers have no depth to them. So yes, having additional speakers does help.
