I Have Epilepsy

So apparently I do have epilepsy. I thought maybe I did, but I didn't want to self-diagnose it.

I thought that it was outruled when I went to the hospital this January. I went for an 'episode' I went into that I thought was related to my psychosis. They said there wasn't much they could do for me after they kept me for a few days. Figured they didn't find anything. But, yet they did. They found I have low blood sugar because looking at reports later, it showed that. Then later on after that, when I went to file for disability, they called me. They wanted to ask some questions and they said 'how often have you been having seizures'. I was confused (because as I said, I thought there was nothing) but that makes complete sense because what I go through seems so much like one.

Why I'm mostly confused is why didn't the hospital say anything but had this information in their records?

I also have epilepsy and have since I was 12 years old. The medication I take controls it completely. I haven't had a seizure in over 30 years. I know it can be a frightening time for you, but if you get with the right neurologist he or she can take the correct tests and get you on a medication or combination of medication that can help control it. I've never been limited in what I can do. I have been careful in what I do because the chance of a seizure is always there. My only other advice would be pay attention to how much rest you get. Most of the times I've had issues is when I've let myself get exhausted or not taken my meds for a few days.
There is one other thing that just came to mind. Let all your friends know so if you do have a seizure in their presence they won't get scared for you and think there's some life threatening thing going on. Help educate them in how they can help if you do. There's a lot of myths out there on how one can help.

lots of times there are things in the record you don't know about because they are putting things there to justify the treatment and medication, if they don't the insurance won't pay for it. Need to see a good neurologist who specializes in epilepsy.
