I Think Marijuana Should Be Legalized

The primary reason why it is still illegal in some areas is due to a general pettiness and sour grapes of the established order. MKUltra backfired, and then the feds decided to round up all that hippy dippy sht and call it treasonous. Such a pity.
While in my own country, we are finally on the way to full legalization, we too are not completely free of the petty legislation and stigmas surrounding this plant. Personally, I believe it is my own right to medicate myself as I see fit, script or no script.

I "hearted" your story because I agree with your statement: "It is my own right to medicate myself as I see fit." ---- Marijuana was made illegal with the passage of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937...The asshole mostly responsible for this law was the former Head of the Department of Prohibition, Harry J. Anslinger (Google him) - MK Ultra was a CIA mind-control program of the 1950s, and had absolutely nothing to do with making pot illegal. (Google MK Ultra)

@Drummer: It's an interesting story, isn't it? Speaks DIRECTLY to the con that has been pushed for decades.

@Ynotisay: What's really interesting is the true reason why marijuana was made illegal back in the 1930s, and it has nothing to do with Anslinger's bullshit about MJ being "the evil weed"...Powerful billionaires like William Randolph Hearst and the Dupont family owned millions of acres of forests and viewed "hemp" as a much cheaper source for the making of paper..So it was about money, not "morality"...(BTW, the U.S. Constitution was made from hemp)

@Drummer: Yeah. I've read about their influence. But it was still the government that pulled the trigger. When you think about the COUNTLESS people who have had their lives ruined and the BILLIONS spent on a made up war on drugs, it's disgusting.
The fact that is still goes on today is appalling.

@mougywolf: i thought lsd was used to speed up the dissociation tactics used by korea?
Ynotisay · M
@xSharp: That's actually sort of the genesis of why it's illegal in the first place. The guy who headed the Dept. of Prohibition needed to keep his job when prohibition ended. The "evil weed," and it's connection to the "evil Mexicans" was the perfect solution.
