I Do Not Drink Alcohol

And I won't ever allow myself to get in the habit of drinking. But, if I am at a friend's and there's alcohol I might have a drink or two, but not to the point where I get super drunk, and I'll make sure it won't happen often. I don't want to become my dad.

I very rarely drink alcohol but if I do, it's 1 glass of wine at a party or an event. I like to be in control of myself at all times so I refuse to drink enough to compromise that control.
Alcoholism (or the addictive personality one needs to become an addict,) is hereditary. It is a good thing that you stay away from it as you are now doing.
If your dad's an alcoholic, be extra-cautious with those drinks man. People start out saying that they'll have just one or two, but two becomes three and three becomes four.

I'm too "good" to drink a lot of alcohol. If I never buy any myself, I'll never have a problem. I only want one day a month (or every few months, even) to drink. I don't like the idea of getting really drunk. I'll do it a few times socially to have a little fun, but that's it. I hope I can stick to my word.
@Marluxia: ...But you're partaking in underage drinking. Can't really call yourself "good" with that in mind. Not wise if alcoholism runs in the family, dude.

@Killers: Like I said, one glass, two glasses tops, and I'll be done. I've only ever had one alcoholic drink in my life, a couple months ago, but I had it toned down a lot by mixing it with something else so it wasn't strong.

Underage drinking doesn't necessarily make you a "bad" person. I still believe I am "good". I don't want to get drunk. I was at a friend's house and she asked me if I wanted to try something she and her boyfriend made, and I had a little over half a glass, that was it.

My fear of turning into my father is what keeps me from ever getting drunk. With some of the people I know, it's very easy to find a way to get drunk.

Same. alcohol isn't inherently evil, only when drank in excess.

Correct.

I come from a family of alcoholics and I refuse to become dependent on any substance. Probably because it freaks me out to lose control. But I drink occasionally, I just don't allow myself to drink when I'm upset in anyway because I feel like that is when someone is more likely to abuse it.
