I said this before. I agree that people have the right to believe what they want. The problem is when they try to force those beliefs on someone/everyone else. History is full of examples of the pain and suffering this causes and it's still going on today.
It's not just the big things like fatwas and witch hunts, it's also others like making school children pledge allegiance in the US ("one nation under God") and the ridiculous Starbucks red cup controversy.
If you say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" you are attacking christianity even though Christmas started as a pagan holiday and there is no real evidence Christ even existed let alone was born on December 25.
At this moment, violent Islamophobic attitudes are everywhere, led largely by presidential candidates like Donald Trump.
From shutting down abortion clinics, to placing creationism and abstinence only education in schools, to spending years blocking marriage equality, Christian politicians can effectively apply their religious beliefs as law, without being labeled extremists.
