I Have Something to Say
Being a military brat, there's a lot of things that I can do. Unfortunately, the military makes it a pain in the ass to get everything filed for the benefits. I was able to come to college on military orders, enabling me to have 5 free checked bags, awesome, right? But it took so long to get it dealt with that my mom's roundtrip ticket was over $1000.
My 18th birthday present from my dad was him transferring me his GI Bill. My college/career guide in high school helped me find what we thought was the right paperwork to file for the benefits. The GI Bill is the absolute only way I'll be able to afford my school. So I get an e-mail from my financial aid office saying I'll still owe $10,000 on this quarter. Looked at my financial aid offer only to find out that the GI Bill never came through. I spent a solid hour trying to find the right paperwork because I have until November 3rd before I'm $10,000 in debt.
You'd think that after 15 years of having these benefits, the process would run more smoothly.
