I Had a Stalker

Here's something I've never understood. People always talk about how "talented" they are or others are at stalking people on the web. Usually it's not in a criminal way like stalking them obsessively or something, but being able to find out all kinds of information on them by using the internet. I've never understand why people find that impressive or shocking or anything. Do you guys not realize that the stalker is only discovering information that the person willingly put on the internet in the first place? Try stalking me. You should be able to find my full name, my birthday, the city I live in, the high school I went to, and a photograph of me. You know why? Because I consciously put that information on my SW profile. If someone suddenly presents that info to me, why the hell would I be surprised? I'm the one who put it there for y'all to see.

The internet, in particular social media just proves we're at the end of human evolution.

The human body is still doing fine but the human mind has reached a critical point in its rational ability in which is has begun to devolve.

Idiocracy. Sometime in the last 6 years it went from a comedy to a documentary.
Unless of course you are a public figure of some sorts. That is not put up willingly.

Oh yeah, like if you're the police chief or the mayor or something, then it's a lot different. And a lot scarier.

Ummm. You probably shouldn't put your address or high school or your full name or other intimate information for all to see. >_>;; It's true the internet is like a big, open square. But there is still some degree of privacy.

I'd never in my life put my address online. That's just asking for trouble. As for my high school, why's that bad? There's no danger in people knowing what school I used to attend three years ago. My full name won't do any trouble either.

@BlueMetalChick: They can get your address from your name. And phone number. high school, I dunno, but it's possible that it could lead someone to other personal information.

@ColdPenguin: As if there aren't a zillion people with my name in Chicago.

Well you have to think about links they may have etc..

Someone once found out my second name when there was no photo so there was no proof it was me. Same person found out the village i lived. The way they found out kept changing. I wasn't impressed I was repulsed.

I think a stalker would try to meet you too. Omg i know what you look like, I know your age, I know where you live (sorta). Am I a stalker of you?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Lol thank god you aren't.
