@lacsar: In the US at least, education is done as badly as possible, and things like logic and critical thinking are not taught.

no desire to learn would be my guess about it, they are being entertained with their phones and other electronics. They'd be in for a rude awakening if the power grid goes down.....it'd be a whole new world for them.

No. Either you are dumb or not dumb. You can't be taught how to be dumb.You can only be taught dumbly and/or with dumb ideas.Intelligent people who do or say dumb things doesn't mean they ARE dumb.Intelligence is IQ.The only way to lose IQ is by aging or head trauma or illness.
