What is the point of marriage?

God established marriage as a covenant, not a contract (Malachi 2:14; Proverbs 2:16-17). It is important to understand the difference between these two. Three important differences exist:

1. A covenant is based on trust between parties. A contract is based on distrust.
2. A covenant is based on unlimited responsibility. A contract is based on limited liability.
3. A covenant cannot be broken if new circumstances occur. A contract can be voided by mutual consent.

Therefore, the marriage covenant between a man and a woman is a comprehensive commitment. This type of marriage covenant was ordained by God, to provide emotional and physical stability.

God created marriage for our good (Proverbs 18:22), to make us happy, to promote a healthier society, and to produce holiness in our lives. We are not called to take advantage of each other. Actions speak louder than words.

@theowl: The women lawyers have found ways to have prenups thrown out. They say they were signed under duress. Another one is when they say that they weren't aware of the kind of money the man had. One more was said to be no good because she said that he said that she wasn't going to sign it but then later decided she would when (according to her) he told her that he would tear up the prenup if she gave him two kids.

Prenups are for shit. Greedy ex spouses, feminist lawyers knew they could count on greed to made sure of that.

i think immature people wont understand or those who dont long for committed relationships. the fling nation. social media i think helped create this society of people who are irresponsible.

Many things. As a personal pact it notifies society of it's presence. As a legal contract it affixes equal stewardship of chattel, equal right to health care decisions with marital issue, equal protection of self and mutual incrimination. And as a spiritual bond sets in record the fact of it's commision for all eternity and inspection by all interested future parties to the parity as one entity.

This is beyond the capability of most narcissists today and probably only means a bridezilla brag and arm candy claim but the profound nature of it exceeds their comprehension anyway.

The most beautiful relationship. It teaches to be kind, respectful, loving, giving and scarifies. Not for selfish people
