Are you part of a culturally blended family? What are the benefits and challenges?

My brother married a wonderful woman from the Dominican Republic. She is a great mother, works hard, keeps an orderly home, raised my niece and nephews well. It can be hard communicating with her relatives though. Her mother had no english, I had so little spanish. The Dominican food is delicious. Fried plantains are like french fries.
