When people post homophobic, uninformed, racist, or merely stupid comments, should they be allowed to delete comments?

I just saw a seriously uninformed, foolish and insulting comment in the form of a question, and when the questioner was called on it, he just deleted comments that he didn't like. I don't think people should have the option of saying stupid stuff and then deleting responses that call attention to their homophobic and racist assumptions.

Well if it offends you, flag it up and let the organisers deem whether its offensive enough to be deleted. And, of course, block the poster, because why would you want to talk to someone like that?
Ha ha so many do it. It's cowardly, just the other day I was having a valid debate with someone and she just started insulting me, then deleted all my comments then blocked me.

Oh well.
Just flag his post as offensive and they can remove his post and maybe his profile too if he's that bad.. But it sounds like you're referring to billyMj or someone equally dence and or trollish

People will post as they wish. Even if the rules did change they would go from one account to several accounts in which they cause even more harm.. so may as well let them ramble on.

I don't think people should be allowed to delete comments on their posts either. I think only moderators should have that option in case it's somehow relevant.

It is cowardly for sure...cowardly and ignorant

Unfortunately they have a right to their ignorance

Also when they come on my post with their utter malarkey I want the option to delete the stupidity..it goes both ways.
