I Do Intermittent Fasting

I have been having health issues for ages now. I was on a health related forum and someone suggest intermittent fasting and a book called "The Obesity Code" By Dr. Jason Fung

Now I'm not a professional of any kind this is just my own personal journey towards better health.

So my weight has gotten so out of control. I've had hormonal weight gains, bad eating advice, stress eating (husband's cheating, among other things).

So right now I've started fasting 16:8 every other day. What that means, is fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8. If I finish my dinner at 9, that means the majority of my fasting is done while I'm sleeping. And I don't eat until 1 in the afternoon. I can drink black tea or water, or whatever.

In addition, I'm doing walking aerobics, belly dancing and yoga. So far so good, I'm getting results. Finally. I've had test after test after test. Doctors shaming me, scolding me. Not believing that I don't eat junk food all the time. GRRRRR

So I'm hoping to put a dent in my health/weight problems.

fasting works. Even going a day or two w/out eating is fine. Unless you have health issues (which a Dr. should clear you of) it won't cause 'abnormal' spikes in your sugar levels to where you'll be sick and/or diabetic. Seriously. Our bodies were designed to go through intermittent episodes or calorie restriction; cave men didn't eat 3 squares a day.

Calorie restriction actually leads to healthier life and more more longevity.

Look up caloric restriction and age.

100% Fact.

well technically I do have health issues. I should get a doctors approval, but I'm not going to because I'm sick and tired of being treated subhuman for being overweight.

so .........

I have blood sugar issues, but as long as I break with a good source of protein, then I should be fine.

Regular exercise and a healthy balanced diet will give you your natural shape and weight.
Diets may alter your shape and weight but it will be an unnatural alternative.

I do that but not with any great intent. I eat at 12pm-ish & 6pm-ish every day. Never past 7pm. & that's it, it's easy.

Good luck with it. The thing I found that worked best for us was the Ideal Protein regime (basically Atkins plus their own special products to ensure correct nutrition). It was .. not cheap, but very effective. Of course, we both had to do it, having one of us not following it would have meant too much temptation lying around the house.

Do NOT do adkins. It hurts the system. And if you ever ever eat any carbs again. Itll totally derail you. Try whole grains. Fish. Vegetables in olive oil. Not butter etc. Good for the heart too

as for food, 80% of the time, I'm doing proteins, vegetables and like sprouted wheat toast, or roasted squash, or whatever

I am also losing weight! Let's be pals! Right now i am fasting 12:12 daily. Add me if you like!
Sonnet · 41-45, F
Is 12:12 really seen as a fast? Seems just like a normal day to me.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@Sonnet: technically I guess not but letting the gut rest for half the day is good for me. Most people I know don't really stick to that rule.
Sonnet · 41-45, F
@Doomflower: that's a very good point actually, they don't. I was just curious though, I've never heard of 12:12 before just.
