Does anyone know some creatures that posses humans?

I'm trying to write a book where a character is persuaded to give up their body and live in their own sort of dream world while the thing that persuaded uses them as sort of a vessel. Anyway I need an idea for what that things is or at least is based off of to give me ideas, does anyone know what kind of thing could do something like that or just could possess humans in general?

Parasites do this. Tape worms do this . Some species of very small fish do this as well. There is a jellyfish in Australia the size of your thumbnail it doesn't do that but what a great vessel for a story
