SIX NATIONS COMPLETE

That's it for another year. Well done Ireland, the best rugby nation by a healthy margin, France - yes, they deserve second spot and Scotland in third was correct.
The teams had a natural split; two great teams, one good team and the rest, although Italy are fast improving while Wales and England are slipping downwards.
I read that many pundits don't agree with Stewart's red carding - well it was an elbow in the Irish lads face. Definite sending off.
It's been a decent few weeks of rugby.

The red card was a farce. Anyone could see it was an accidental collision as Stewart was trying to pull out of contact. Anyone who has actually pkayed the game knows that. Of course the ref wanted to make a name for himself so he chose to ruin the game as a contest heedless of the fact that thousands of people had shelled out good money to watch it. This sort of thing is killing rugby as a spectacle and the law makers need to do something about it. The problem is it not only spoiled England’s chances but it took the gloss of Ireland’s victory.

@Mathers No - they made the complaint when the ref obeyed the laws. Their whining has devalued the entire sport.

The review board always reviews red cards . It is independent. @helensusanswift

@Mathers And responded to the host of complaints about the poor Englishman who gave the Irishman concussion.

By the laws it was a red. I think the laws need some revision.
I was more angry with the yellow which seemed hugely inconsistent with similar incident in the first half.
Plus throughout the match the ref was inconsistent and missing obvious infringements. A TMO should not be calling the ref about a blatant offside that was in front of him for example. We need better international refs throughout not just from Europe.

@OldBrit Definite red - the Irish lad was concussed and could not play again that match.
The yellow - agreed - should have been a red for dangerous play.
The ref was pretty lenient.

@helensusanswift and the same in the first half, how was that tap tackle any different from the Willis one and that was penalty only? Made no sense.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
Their the best Irish rugby team ever
antonioioio · 70-79, M
@helensusanswift even I can't go back that far 😂
helensusanswift · 31-35, F
@antonioioio I bet there would be some great memories if you could! Anyway - the Irish won well and we'll meet you in the World Cup!
antonioioio · 70-79, M
@helensusanswift their captain Johnny Sexton will go down as greatest Irish rugby player ever
Yeah..it was a red in the current climate but he turned to protect himself and the Irish guy ran into him.
If he had stood his ground he may have been seriously injured.
Watch out for Wales in the World Cup.
Very definite signs of improvement against France.

Do you like sport in general, or just Ruby
helensusanswift · 31-35, F
@antonioioio Some sports - mainly Shinty, which I grew up with. Rugby a little and football because it's my husband's sport.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
@helensusanswift do you know that Scotland played Ireland in a game of shinty
helensusanswift · 31-35, F
@antonioioio It's an annual event, I believe. Slightly different rules but still the same game.
