BMX is off the hook. But in all honesty I tend to find EVERY event impressive. Knowing the work, commitment and sacrifice that goes in to it gets me on board with all of them.
I worked closely for a while with Olympic gymnasts and figure skaters and I'll never forget seeing them up close for the first time. Sort of makes you proud to a human knowing what "we" are capable of.
My first experience with gymnasts was sitting close at the U.S. Championships and the first pass I saw on the floor exercise literally made my yell out loud. I'd NEVER seen a human being do ANYTHING like that in my life. The speed, strength and guts was mind blowing.
And that's similar in any event where danger is a real thing. BMX is one of them. They're walking a razors edge. And you KNOW they've crashed and burned countless times. But they keep getting up.
I saw a post here that was sort of dismissing the Olympics and there were a lot in agreement. I just don't understand that in any way. How can you NOT be impressed and pull for them?

@Ynotisay Absolutely. The US BMX rider crashed and landed with the seat in his testicles. He got up, shook off the pain and did a good run in round two
These guys are doing summersaults three metres in the air. You are right that the danger adds to the spectacle
The Olympics pushes the limits of what human beings can do: it's the best of the best. The dedication is immense and I feel so sorry for those who spend a lifetime training but then make a big mistake in the final.

@Burnley123 Yep. They shake it off. They're cut differently. And I feel the same way. You don't want anyone to fail. For any reason. But it's part of the risk and they take it. Really admire that.

Yes....very impressive. Better than the skateboarding.
But Golf really as an Olympic sport?

Yeah it's crazy, like at what point in their life did they suddenly think ''I know I'm gonna fly up a ramp and start spinning my BMX around in the air then land on it again''? Without smashing head first into the floor with the BMX bike landing on top of them two seconds later, LOLZ!!!😅

The part where that one lady takes a step and she has this look on her face like she knows that you know and everybody cheers because they know.
