How do people run on muddy hiking trails?

I went out for my usual power walk since I can't run, and the trails were muddier than expected, and I managed to fall, even though I saw a few joggers go past the same place where I slipped. Now my right upper arm hurts when I touch it or stretch it. And so does the side of my left knee. And the side of my right thigh. I'm a mess right now.

Its winter, some days I have to run on ice, when I go for my runs. Its just something you get used to. Take it easy at first.
