All professional sports. Sports never was intended to be a career.

@Darksideinthenight2 before 1871, there was no professional sports for over a thousand years. Heck not even the modern Olympics was around before 1896.

@Darksideinthenight2 yet again that's over 2,000 years ago. For nearly 2000 years everyone was just fine without professional sports. Even then it was a war Spector event. And why it shouldn't be encouraged in society. Military is different.

@Darksideinthenight2 not saying sports as a whole! Amateur sports has a very serious place. Yet not professional sports! It has no purpose! Amateur sports teaches cooperation and team work.

No so with professional sports. Most so called professional sports players are all after each other in most of them. Even when it's played in teams.

Professional sports has no place in today's society. It harbors even violence among the spectators. Look at after any professional sports games. It's almost a riot among the spectators if not the players themselves!

@Darksideinthenight2 yes, kill or be killed. No team work, no cooperation, no building up of society. Let the one with the biggest club be winner and the devil with the rest of society.

Your supporting caveman mentally with professional sports. That is what is happening today! Every man out for themselves.

Then you complain about the rioters and mass killings how how the homeless are invading your homes.

No cooperation! No team work! No effective society! Rome killed itself when the Gauls over ran them (they called themselves Celts BTW). So had Greece when the Romans came!

@Darksideinthenight2 entertainment is different and you should know that. What is happening isn't entertainment unless you consider actual near riots entertainment.

I have my facts more straight than you want to know. That's the problem. The majority won't see the facts even after the facts hit them in the face.

It's exactly what happened to both Roman and Greece. They refused to believe the facts!

Both Rome and Greece refused to cooperate among themselves.

@Darksideinthenight2 I not saying every single event. Yet as long as it happens at ANY time you are supporting non cooperation!

That's exactly what professional sports do! When hasn't it happened over a span of a quarter year or even a couple of months? You support it at any time you are supporting non cooperation.

@Darksideinthenight2 yes there are more fools in this world that make up the majority!

I don't hate people! Yet like an adult that disapproves of a child's actions I do disapprove of professional sports! Professional sports are actions! Their actions I hate!
Ynotisay · M
@DeWayfarer Everyone was also fine without electricity.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay not poignant to the discussion. So irrelevant! Like saying the sky is blue!
Ynotisay · M
@DeWayfarer I can follow up if you want. My strong sense, which I'm pretty sure I'm right about, is that you never competed in any sports, let alone at a high level, aren't athletic by nature and just don't have any interest in professional sports. And all that's fine. You can make all the declarative statements that you want as long as you know you're talking about yourself.
I could reel off a laundry list of why it's important. Of why it was important to me as an athlete. Or why it's important to fans. Or the countless people employed in the pro sports industry. But it wouldn't matter. Because you're clearly seeing it through your own eyes. And to that? Whatever. Different strokes.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay quite wrong! Cross country running, wrestling, soccer, tennis, even have a video playing basketball. Yet yes, all in Jr high or high school!

I did learn cooperation in those. That is the point. Professional sports are counter cooperation!
Ynotisay · M
@DeWayfarer OK. Jr. High and High school. Duuuude. Come on now. You have no idea what you're talking about with this one. You're totally free to do that, and have your opinions, but they're myopic. And that's outside of pro sports being a many tens of billions a year industry.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay I don't have to be a professional to see what's going on! As long as ANY kind of violence happens at ALL, it's counter cooperation! It doesn't matter if in the stands or on the playing field, or in the parking lot!

None of that ever happened in school.

@DeWayfarer You know you're talking about individuals and not pro sports, right? Hope so.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay no! I see the competition and non cooperation in the professional players themselves! Why I said it's among the players long ago!

Yet even that's irrelevant because they even fight against other teams.
Ynotisay · M
@DeWayfarer Then here's another component. It seems you have no real comprehension that professional athletes are cut jussst a little differently than you are. You never competed, I'll assume you've never been around pro athletes and you probably don't have a real solid handle of what their lives are like. You're applying your own thing to those walking an entirely different path. And you're ready to throw out pro sports in the process. Come on now. Think it through, huh?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay Why does anyone have to be a professional when you see it on video tape?
