What has gone wrong at Barcelona?

8-2 defeat to Bayern in the Champions League is staggering. I tbought Bayern would win but teams like Barca NEVER lose by that kind of score.

No long term planning or strategy.

They elect populist Presidents who then throw money around like confetti.

Last night they had three players on the bench who cost them 拢400m.

And one of those was on their opponents bench !

@RodionRomanovitch... And he came off the bemch to pile misery onto his parent club.

I agree about the lack of planning. Six years agp they were Europe's dominant team but most of the players from then are now 33. The new playes they've brought in are not good enough for this level and their whole squad is on massive wages.

Messi is on 拢500,000 per week, Suarez on almost as much and even average players like Sergio Roberto are on 拢150,000 per week.

Their is also a lot of arrogance and player power. They need a full rebuild.

@Burnley123 If they've got any sense they'll get Poch in.

@RodionRomanovitch I agree but then would he go there? Its a club that burn through coaches like Watford.

There is also massive fan and media pressure which makes it hard for any coach to impart new ideas.

@Burnley123 Coming to think about it , hasn't he been a bit disparaging about them in the past ? (When he was angling for the Madrid job maybe.)

@RodionRomanovitch I dunno. He played for and coached Espayol and they hate Barca for lots of reasons.

Barca are parochial and they will probably appoint an ex player like Xavi. If I was them I'd get an outsider in to shake things up but I dont think that club is ready for big changes.

I still wouldn't do it if I were him though. Barca has a culture resistant to change: massive player power, a local media intensity which was too much even for Guardiola and presidential elections in a year!

Its not like in England when a coach has full freedom and power to impliment a philosophy. I wouldn't go there if I was him.

@RodionRomanovitch Thanks. I will read that.

@Burnley123 What's the latest with Dyche ? Will he still be there next year ?
Burnley12341-45, M
@RodionRomanovitch I think he would leave us for a better offer but so far no better offer has come. Same as ever but he is moaning a bit more.

His style of play mitigates against the very big clubs giving him a job and so far the Everton and West Ham's have looked the other way. His only other option would be to move sidewise to somebody like Palace but no jobs like that ate on offer either. He could leave us for a big Championship club as a backward steo but he probably wont.

So I think he will end up staying and still do a good job for us because leaving would be worse than staying.

@Burnley123 I think you're right mate. It's in everyone's interest that he stays put.

Unless of course Barcelona come calling ..... 馃槈

@RodionRomanovitch Dyche is right for us. I wouldn't even take Klopp over him lol.
