@Nunlover and you’re wrong by the way. That was the era. Everyone was on the juice. And you can take all the roids in the world, it’s not going to help you hit a 100 mph fastball. What the Astros and Sox did user Cora allowed the batters to know what was coming. That’s a much bigger advantage that roids. IMO.

@AlyssaG Praise the Lord for a baseball discussion! Before roids, people took "greenies", i.e. speed. But having been a huge Cardinals fan, I was pretty diappointed when I learned that McGwire was juicing. Plus it killed the value of some of my baseball cards.

@PowerofStories my dad started me on a card collection and I had some great cards. But then the market on them tanked. 😢.

@AlyssaG I started collecting as a kid (in the 1960s) for the fun of it. I kept my cards when my friends moms threw theirs away and still have thousands. But the fact that card collecting has turned into an investment market has changed the whole context.
Did they still come with that awful tasting gum when your Dad got you started?

@PowerofStories no. We would go to some shows where they were selling old packs. And I did have some old rookie cards, but most of mine were from 1993 and up.

@AlyssaG I would go through buying sprees about once a decade. Mine are sitting in a storage. I can't decide whether to try to sell them or to give them away to a new generation of collectors. My kids have no interest.

@PowerofStories I ended up giving mine away. Except for my Upper Deck Griffey Rookie card

@AlyssaG Junior? Well hold on to that one. If I find someone who is passionate about collecting, rather than just trying to make a quick buck, I would probably give away most or all of mine too.

@PowerofStories yeah. It was always my favorite card. Never getting rid of it. Lol.
