Junior school sports day was great .However when I went to high school I hated it for many reasons .Unless you a really good runner or at what ever it was we were made to feel useless and told we weren't trying hard enough and punished and you had to take part whether you liked it or not it was horrible .

@Rhodesianman That sounds absolutely terrible! A typical English sports day was a fun event with a low element of competition. Even in high school, obviously with more serious races.

It wasn't fun at my high school .I went to an all boys boarding school and the message we had drummed into us was they were making men of boys .Ross19

It was .It was worse than army training .I am not kidding the masters were bastards .
