STEVE YOUNG

@Lostpoet that was my 3rd pick

@Lostpoet He's not even the best QB of all time. Probably not even in the top 10
SW-User
@eli1601 bet he is in the top 10
Lostpoet · M
@eli1601 Hell yeah he is. He is my favorite player so of course I'm going to say he is the best. He revolutionized the running quarterback in the NFL.
Lostpoet · M
@eli1601 If he stayed healthy and played as long as Brett Favre and he didn't waste so many years playing under Joe Montana than he would have had a bigger impact.

You can say the same about Bo Jackson. He would have been the best if he never got injured.

@SW-User Joe Montana being your second? I love that you love football babe. 🤩
SW-User
@Lostpoet how did you know who my second pick was 😂
@Lostpoet Steve Young was damn good I'd take him over Montana cause he was solid as a passer and an impact runner as well he was underrated

@Lostpoet One opinion

@Lostpoet And if there wasn't a BS offensive pass interference call on Michael Irvin in an NFC championship game, he wouldn't he even have one super bowl ring. That was an if too....If's, But's, candys and nuts don't make a career.

@Lostpoet Young also played in the USFL if I remember right. Wasted a year or two there.

Bo was great, but decided to play baseball. Football was only a part time job to him. If he has gone straight to the NFL, maybe he would have been the greatest.
@therighttothink50 Marino had 0 rings but still statistics say he is one of the best quarterbacks of all time yes you play for championships but stats don't lie and Steve Young was very good HOF good or he wouldn't be in the HOF

@eli1601 That's just an article and I definitely wouldn't placed those players like that. Steve young first year he had a higher QB rating than Joe. He had tghe highest QB rating in the NFL at that time and he influenced how people judge quarterbacks today.

I like how they mentioned Roger Staubach though becausr that was Steve Young's favorite QB.
@Lostpoet and if I remember correctly I am not 100 percent sure on this but pretty confident I think Steve Young actually had more touchdown passes to Jerry Rice than Montana did as well
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@Lostpoet Who is a QB today that was influenced by Steve Young's style? I can't think of any.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@ExperienceDLT That would surprise me.
@eli1601 any "running" quarterback is influenced by Steve Young and Randall Cunningham they revolutionized the quarterback being a threat as a runner and then later on Mike Vick
Lostpoet · M
@eli1601 Any running Quarterback. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxsports.com/other/story/rodgers-qb-style-inspired-by-steve-young-122712%3famp=true
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@ExperienceDLT That's just it. Who is a running QB right now? The final four was:

Brady - no
Goff - no
Brees - no
Mahomes - not really
@eli1601 hate to disapoint you then but I looked it up Young to Rice 85 touchdown passes which is 50 more than the Montana to Rice duo and second all time behind only Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison
Lostpoet · M
@eli1601 Rogers is still a really big name. Michael Vick also praised Steve Young as the person he tried to mimic growing up. Robert Griffin III. The biggest problem with running QBs us that they don't seem to la st long in the NFL. Steve Yound wasn't only a running QB he was also one of the most prolific QBs in pass rating.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@Lostpoet Okay. Maybe in 2012 when the article was written and Rogers could still move a little.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@Lostpoet Just so you know, Young was a great player. I'm not arguing that. My argument is where he ranks when compared to all QB's in history.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@ExperienceDLT Not disappointed, just surprised. Then again, Montana's most famous TD pass was not to Rice, it was to Dwight Clark.
@eli1601 and our point is he earned the right to be ranked where he is and the sports writers agree apparently which is why he is ranked as he is and is in the Hall of Fame
