Happy administration day!馃帀馃崁

This is a great day in Scotland and has nothing to do with love. On Valentine's day 2012 Rangers football club officually went into administration. They would eventually liquidate and die. This prompted celebrations across the country. Unfortunately a new club was formed and this pale imitation insist that they are somehow still the same club. Despite previously protests against liqidating the old club as they didn't want to lose their history and form a new club. Below is an example of the celebrations when it was only rumoured that this horrible club were going into administration.

This reminds me of an incident, probably 20 years or so ago, when I was on holiday in the Western Isles. We were staying on South Uist which, as you will know, is the Catholic one, North Uist being Protestant. In the pub on the Saturday evening someone mentioned that there was a football match next day. I assumed they meant South Uist Rovers v Benbecula, or something like that, and thought no more about it. Then on the Sunday afternoon, about 4 o鈥檆lock, it seemed that every inhabitant of South Uist emerged from their houses, in a mood of great celebration, all wearing green and white hoops. It had, of course, been the Old Firm which everyone was watching on television, and Celtic had, if memory serves, won 6-0.
