All the big teams are doing their best to get eliminated by minnows.

and I think that Argentina will 'succeed' tomorrow lol. Love the World Cup.

Exactly haha. It's funny how Morocco was fighting as if they had a chance. Right now, your history won't get you through. Only the best teams will advance.
VSonMe · 56-60, M
@xRedx don't tell me what i can and can't do. Go fuck yourself
xRedx · M
@VSonMe haha, you're fucking ridiculous. I only stated facts and you got all heated.
xRedx · M
@Burnley123 dude this guy is nosing in and saying complete nonsense. What's wrong with him? We were having a good conversation and he just butts in
VSonMe · 56-60, M
well... with one glorious exception.

It's coming home.
VSonMe · 56-60, M
@MartinII Agree on Sterling when he's in front of goal. He causes problems for defences though. Maybe Rashford will take his chance. He's played with confidence for England. I like Loftus-Cheek too, but Lingard/Alli in front of Henderson has looked good against the weaker teams. Wonder if he might prefer Dier against stronger opposition?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@VSonMe I think Rashford is close to starting a game, at least according to the leaked team sheet. 🤣

I think it's a good point about Dier but Henderson is playing too well to drop. Southgate could start both Henderson and Dier together against Belgium or he could bring back Alli. Big decisions against a powerful but ultra attacking Belgium.

Personally, I would go with the same midfield.

Loftus Cheek is much better than Alli defensively and you don't wanna move Henderson from where he is playing well. Same with Lingard. I think they should change the tactics though and play just slightly deeper. Belgium attack well through the centre but leave a lot of space to counter out wide because both of their wing backs play like wingers.

If that doesn't work, then Southgate will know to be more defensive against other big teams. I think that will be his strategy though and I also think it can work.

@Burnley123 So you would play the first team against Belgium? Is there perhaps a case for giving a match to three or four members of the squad who haven’t played yet? And what team will Belgium field?
CheshireCatalyst · 36-40, M
I had Argentina bottom of that group in my predictions
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CheshireCatalyst I follow Tim Vickery and he has long been predicting this.

After the Croatia game they looked shell-shocked, like they can't believe what is happening and they don't know what to do. I can see Nigeria beating them.
CheshireCatalyst · 36-40, M
@Burnley123 their midfield and defence are awful. The whiteboard in their dressing room clearly says "GIVE THE BALL TO LEO" in size 500 font.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CheshireCatalyst lmfao. Exactly. They are a slow old team playing a pressing game. The oppo also know that whiteboard and play accordingly. Messi gets slow delivery with two men on him and no runners so no wonder he looks out of sorts.

I also think that Argentina are in for a decade of not being a major football power, like the Dutch. All their best players are around thirty and there are no worthy replacements coming through.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
You should not be paid for playing for your country, just be proud to do it, it's not as if they are not paid enough from there clubs
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
I enjoy watching the world cup. I am becoming a soccer fan, even though I don't understand the rules.
firefall · 61-69, M
do the national teams pay their players? because I can see why countries with a lot of top flight players in a team might experience considerable disenthusiasm for suffering possible injuries, for someone that isn't their actual hirer.
@firefall I know that England players are paid but by tradition they give all their england money to children’s charities
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@firefall They are. Also federations/FIFA have to cover injury insurance and this was a political thing the clubs won about ten years ago.

It is fair and the smaller federations can afford it because the World Cup generates massive revenue.

i just want iceland to go through
Reckon I’m rooting for Iceland and Argentina to win, but for Argentina not to win by more goals than Iceland so Croatia and Iceland go through. Other than that as long as Argentina are out I don’t mind 😂
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Mildreadful I think Iceland will draw with a half arsed Croatia and that Nigeria will beat Argentina.
MartinII · 70-79, M
But twas ever thus in the qualifying stages (1966, for example!) I have a sneaking feeling Argentina might still pull themseves together. Hope I am wrong!
