I don't get why people get in this "rather play X than Y". World Cup is about being "the best". If a team is really "The Best" it would no matter which team they're playing against, and if they want to play "X instead of Y" because that would "allow them" to advance to the next stage, frankly they don't have what it takes to win the World Cup, period...

@drymer Agree with illusion.
As example, look at Germany in their game against Sweden. They won by the very narrowest of margins but could still be tournament winners. There are lots of good teams but no outstanding one.

@Burnley123 @MasterofNone So basically what you guys are saying is that winning the World Cup has nothing to do with being the best team, but it's rather a matter of luck... in which case, why bothering with the World Cup at all...?

@drymer Its both, obviously

Perhaps a high-scoring game too. I think England’s defence would struggle against Colombia’s fast and skilful forwards.

So you hope to lose against Belgium. ?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MasterofNone Yes but even if we win we could face Colombia, or Colombia could get knocked out. That group is still undecided.
I think we should try to best Belgium anyway though and that game matters as a competitive test to both teams.

@Burnley123 yeah it's been quite some time since England was in quarter finals.
