russia got gold and silver, while canada got the bronze

the drama queen in me is loving that evgenia was dethroned, but at the same time, it must be so heartbreaking for her. until a month ago at europeans, evgenia hadn’t lost a competition since 2015. all of a sudden her younger teammate sweeps in with higher technical content, receives the same boost to her scores as evgenia got when she turned senior, and she can’t do anything but skate like she always had (which is really really well).

good fight from alina though, having lived under evgenia’s shadow (even used evgenia’s old costume last season!) and managed to step out of that shadow and beat her idol!

great skates from all the girls in the final group. im so happy they managed to skate well 😊
