YUP olympics are wonderful money well spent
NOPE there are sporting events to host that are cheaper but less glamorous

Nowadays it cost tens of billions of dollars to put on the olympics and after the 2 weeks of sport is over usually most of the facilities built at great expense get ripped down because they are not needed anymore.
Some things stay but most usually go so the long term benefits to the residents of the city are not as great as it looks like during the preparation for the olympics when all these new things are being built.
The state funds the olympics but they do not get their money back because they spent tens of billions.
So is spending all that money for 2 week of sport justified?
