No. My grandmother went to church but didn't like their doctrines as she read her bible differently. Can't remember where it is now but there is a scripture that says 'the soul dies'. So a clash with the church there methinks.

Tells us the body goes back to the dust of the earth and the spirit goes back to God who gave it.

Our spirits are eternal because God is eternal and he is the only one who can kill the soul / spirit - and will do so to those who reject him after the final judgment of the inhabitants of this Earth.
