If they kill you they've ended your soul. So, you're wrong about that.

I don't have to be smart or know everything, I only have to know more about the soul than you. So, the English word for soul is an old word meaning to bind, because the primitive superstitious people before Christianity thought that the immortal soul of the dead could rise from the dead and harm the living. Their solution was to bind the hands and feet of their buried. Later the word became associated with large bodies of water because it was thought that these bodies of water is where the immortal souls had to go when we died. In a similar sense they were bound there.

The Biblical words translated soul are different than that. The writers of the Bible taught that the soul died, could be destroyed. (Ezekiel 18:4; Matthew 10:28) but there wasn't an English word which came close to meaning the same as the writers of the Bible. By then the pagan influence of Greek philosophy, to the Jews from Alexander the Great in 332 BCE and to the Christians from Constantine the Great in 325 CE had misinterpreted the soul to be immortal. Socrates and Plato, for example. Actually those teachings were much older from Babylon, but as myth and fables often do, they intermingled their way into Greek philosophy and then Jewish and Christian thinking.

And that's why you think your soul can't end.
