I Am Psychic

MY Psychic Experience... No, I'm not really psychic, but I have a friend who has recently discovered that she is psychic, or at least has a sixth sense. With her not having an EP account, she wanted me to ask this for her: What can she do to practice and become more experienced with having a sixth sense? I'm willing to answer any questions you guys have, since I don't know if I'm being vague or not (I've never dealt with anyone psychic before, I'm sorry).

I can't resist answering this one. I wish I had had people to talk to when I was younger, instead of learning everything the hard way.

I always tell people to start a dream journal, because dreams and psychic experiences seem to be closely associated. You will probably tire of dream journaling at some point, because it has the effect of heightening your psychic ability (not sure why). So, if things are happening too fast, put your dream journal away until you feel ready to move forward again.

Like they say, "believe half of what you read and none of what you hear. That's an important point for you. Right now you are trusting and receptive, and you can easily get caught up in pseudo-psychic activities. For many people, being psychic is like becoming a witch. They think practice and ritual will open the doors to supernatural knowledge. But this isn't the case. If someone is offering advice along the lines of "buy this necklace with special powers" or "follow the cycles of the moon"---anything that suggests that there is a script to follow, well ..... don't be unkind, but just don't put too much credence in such advice. Especially since (I believe) psychics are like snowflakes (no two alike) you need to become acquainted with yourself. I can promise that your psychic skills will be idiosyncratic and unique. It's kind of like, your own brain will be the best teacher for you.

It's can be a tightrope act. If you choose to ignore small observations, you may be missing your own natural psychic abilities because they are too subtle. On the other hand, you will probably be more vulnerable to superstition than most. You want to believe in yourself, but it becomes a slippery slope. This issue will be with you all your life. You will have to learn how to hear your true inner voice, while not getting too excited about it. I love the expression "put a pin in it". In other words, make a mental note, and come back to it later if something more develops.

Have you heard of the "monkey brain" theory? There are parts of your brain, like the cerebral cortex, that make you the complex, intelligent creature that you are. But our brains have many parts that are less evolved, as for example, the "reptilian brain", which is still part of your conscious thought, while being used less and less. Well, this is the case with the "monkey brain". It's some part of the brain that is not evolved enough to store memory. The only way it can perform a memory function is by reminding you over and over and ....over.... of something you need to remember. You think it's just a coincidence that you were reminded (out of the blue) of something important. Nope---that's just your monkey brain, doing its job in the only way it can, to help you to remember important things.

This is a long explanation for a simple thing. Learn to recognize your monkey brain at work, because it plays an important role for psychic people. Just "put a pin in it" and let your monkey brain do the work. Later you may recognize an event has having been psychic. It's like learning to give your psychic brain a voice, while not allowing your psychic brain to become your primary voice. Over time, you will develop your own system of acknowledging psychic information.

Do you know if any of your family members are psychic? Mine are, and it helps a lot. Psychic families can form strong protective bonds. You can share your concerns and ideas. If the family member you are talking to is not psychic, your secrets will be safe with them. If they are psychic, you will each gain a friend and confidant in one another---especially as the all important "sounding board" for you to learn to articulate your thoughts, and to move forward in your understanding of your own psychic traits and abilities.

Also, don't be afraid to become an EP member. This organization has the highest level of privacy protection I have ever seen. You can even delete your own comments if you feel too exposed.

One last thing---I have searched for a site like this for 25 or 30 years. I believe it's the first of its kind. You have the incredible luck to be starting your life as a psychic "explorer" at a time when a community like this is available to you. Your identity is veiled, but you can still interact with other people who are learning, or have learned what it means to be psychic.
