How long have you had your mobile phone number?

I've had my current mobile phone # for just a couple of years. Early in the century, I bought a flip phone that I liked very much. A couple of years ago, I was notified by the service provider that they would no longer support the technology of that phone but they would give me a new, updated phone at no charge. I don't remember the reason but they couldn't use the phone number on the new phone so they issued a new #. It didn't matter to me, I didn't even know the original number because I only used that phone for emergencies.

My land line, on the other hand, is an antique number. The house I was raised in was the same house that my grandparents bought around 1920. When I was a kid, the phone number was just four digits. In the 1950s, a prefix digit was added to make it five numbers. Then, two more prefix numbers were added making it a total of seven digits. Finally, the area code was added. After raising my kids in that house, I moved to an apartment, taking that phone number with me.

@notyouraveragedummy how amazing to have generations raised in the same house!!
@metaldog Yes, but the tradition is over. I have no grandchildren to pass on all the family "treasures" or the phone number.
