I assume you are talking about the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil...

The belief that the fruit was apple is simply a tradition that developed in Europe.. There is no mention of the actual fruit in the Bible scriptures.. It may have been a fruit that only existed in the garden of eden..

But apart from that the option allowed our ancestors the freedom to decide weather to believe God and not eat of the fruit or to believe satan and eat the fruit.. Our ancestors chose to believe satan and so humanity was sabotaged by satan's deception.. But the good news is the LORD had a plan to redeem humanity and reconcile His creation back to a right state of relationship with Him.. This was done through the LORD Jesus and His Atonement, where He paid the penalty for all our Evil all our transgressions..

God foreknows everything that would happen.. God is not caught out, or overcome by the satanic sabotage of His Creation.. By demonstration God has proven that Lucifer and his angels are unjustified in their rebellion against His will.. God has already defeated the satanic conspiracy, The truth of the matter is that God provided satan enough rope to hang himself.. satan was defeated even before he approached his first human victims..

Fruit is a food for substance nutrition, not only for man but for many animals too.

If you're referring to the Apple being the fruit of the tree of knowledge which God forbade man to eat of, the Bible does not say what type of fruit it was.

The Bible gives recognition to the fig tree and the fruit of the fig tree in several areas of scripture. Christ even cursed the fig tree. Adam and Eve put on fig leaves for covering.

Asking why he he invented the Apple one might as well ask why he invented the orange, the grape, banana, peach, plum, pear, the papaya the tomato in any other fruit or foods.

It is reported that the Latin word malum with a ~ over the A, which means Apple is so similar to the word malum with a curve over the A which means evil, those translators chose to use apple as the forbidden fruit.

You might be thinking of the fall of man. The Bible never explicitly states that Eve ate an APPLE...only that she ate from the "fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil". The apple is a later association that likely arose because the Latin word for apple, malum, is the same as the Latin word for "evil".

The original Hebrew text only uses the general word for fruit, "peri".

The fruit was a symbol of temptation and disobedience, and the specific type of fruit is less important than the act of disobeying God's command.

According to His sovereignty, God caused the Tree of Knowledge to grow in paradise, giving Adam and Eve the choice between receiving the eternal blessings from a gracious God or the consequences of disobedience against a just God.
