Following the leader

is more cult-like than anything that I've come across lately. Anyone seriously thinking about our society today has already the obvious examples of that on the mind. The two key-words for christians are humility and obdience to God after all.

Why are so many christians so sure about particular politician or country to support? Isn't it rather about following the example of Christ and not anyone else, nor even any nation or group in particular at all? Couldn't it actually be a real attempt to manipulate even God in his being?

Often I've wondered about this radical shift in the christian community out large, especially in the United States. Then I came across something in my on-going studies of theological matters...

In theology there's something called 'apostolic affirmation'. It's a process by which the authenticity and authority of a person or group, often in a religious context, is recognized and endorsed by an authoritative figure, such as an apostle or a council of elders. It's used to gather around the one person. Not my thing because who actually wants that as a true christian, is my own remark up front about that already.

Apostolic affirmation is often rightly criticized for being a form of self-focused, manipulative prayer rather than a humble submission to God's will. Critics argue that it can distort the purpose of prayer by implying that speaking certain words or maintaining a specific mindset can control outcomes, which is seen as a departure from biblical principles of God's sovereignty.

In short, there's a distorted view of God's sovereignty, an emphasis on too much self-focus, a real potential for deception and unrealistic expectations, and most of all a clear misuse of scripture.

What is needed now is still more of the same that's been needed for centuries past...

Instead of relying on affirmations, critics suggest focusing on studying Scripture, praying with humility and submission to God's will, and seeking to understand and align with God's purposes. It will emphasize a relationship with God that is based on faith, trust, and obedience rather than on manipulative techniques

God expects even Christians to pray about whom we wish to lead our country. That is our right and privilege to pray for our president and our choices.

@LadyGrace Even Israel of old had that right. But her leaders didn't please God in the end. The morality corrupted shouldn't be prayed for, well, that's my view. The leader leading his people to the end of morality that's more akin to what happened to Israel of old too
@val70 I feel those are the leaders that need all the more prayer. And we really can't go by what the public or media say. There's so many lies there it's unbelievable. God doesn't want us judging anyone. When we know better we do better and I believe prayer really helps when we pray for each other and our leaders.
val70 · 51-55
@LadyGrace Really? Didn't you hear a certain person descring in a degusting way how he treats women? You must be living in cuckooland if you think that I'll ever pray for that man
@val70 That's what Christians are called to do, pray for sinners, and you don't know but what that man repented. I've watched him through the years and he is growing in Christ. He's not ashamed to say that he loves Jesus. He's not ashamed to say that the world needs Christ and his leadership more than ever. Nobody said he was perfect but he is growing and we shouldn't judge that. We cannot really know what is in his heart so we cannot judge it. We cannot go by here say. Judge not lest ye be judged is what the Bible says. Whosoever has not sinned, let them cast the first stone.

@LadyGrace Nah, that's your country... luckily... not my mess... you have him... just you wait till it's 2028... he's gonna fix the election for good then
@val70 You're not from this country. I don't think you're quite up to date on the mess, actually devastation, that Obama and Biden has caused this country. I'm proud to say President Trump is my President. I wasn't voting for the Pope. I was voting for the man that God led me to vote for, that would best lead our country and I can see that God has blessed him and chosen him to be our leader. Though many can't see it, that's okay. I show respect for those who have not even voted for Trump. I don't bad mouth them because that was their choice and they have a right to it. God saved him from the bullet for a reason. I see all the good he's doing for this country. I don't believe all the garbage the media tries to pin on him or the leftists.

Even if Biden would have been elected, I would have respected that and prayed for the man, not bad-mouthed him. God expects us to pray for our leaders and support them. There are things that I do not agree with regarding Trump but I do pray for him and I have been seeing lots of changes. None of us are perfect, but God does expect us to pray for our president, no matter who takes office. Without prayer, and God's guidance, nothing can be accomplished.

@LadyGrace Trump is saying that he never did lose the election and now is set for another one. You really think that it will be run like any normal election?
@val70 Please don't discount how the dems cheated and did everything in their power to try to keep that man from office. It was the worst I've ever seen the other party do. Pure evil. Don't talk to me about fairness when it comes to the Democrats. They are worse than the Republicans have ever been. Even trying to kill the man, come on! He didn't lose one of the elections. It was illegally taken from him. The Dems don't know what a normal election means, without cheating. You can't believe everything you hear in the news when most newscasters were for the Dems. They lie so bad. Ballots were found in drainage ditches in Pennsylvania and that's evidence of election fraud by Democrats.

@LadyGrace Well, that's out of the way then... we can only hope that God will take him
@val70 That is the cruelest thing I've ever heard an alleged Christian say.
val70 · 51-55
@LadyGrace Why? Atleast he'll be in heaven. Why wouldn't God take him then? Are you unsure that he's not worthy? That's really strange

@LadyGrace I said that we all hope that God will take him despite his many faults. That's all. The rest you thought yourself. Be glad there's a righteous God. He's more than either of us
@val70 No, the rest I did not think myself. Your comment was crystal clear and you said nothing about you hope that God will take care of him despite his faults after blasting him. Tell the truth. Don't try to backtrack and smooth it over, after blasting the guy.

@val70 Atleast Donald Trump is standing up for Christians. And I love him for that.
val70 · 51-55
@DanielsASJ You love a false god then. Love God and your neighbour instead
val70 · 51-55
@LadyGrace The only thing clear is my own believe in God as my King and Saviour. For the rest you make your own bed. I said nothing against Trump's soul. Was even hoping that he'll make it into heaven. It's God that will judge him and Trump hasn't got a clean slate. Just ask anyone
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@val70 The thing is no one gets a clean slate. No one. People are subject to sin in this sinful world. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we are saved.

@DanielsASJ Just turn your love to God and not him. He's unclean like you said yourself there. Can't agree more that we're all sinners. Salvation is understood to be a gift from God, received by grace through faith, rather than through good works
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@val70 So why not love someone who is standing for Christians all around the world?
val70 · 51-55
@LadyGrace Again, I said that we we can only hope that God will take him. I'll never pray for him, nor do I need to. He lets him be treated like a false god. That reposting of him as pope proved that
val70 · 51-55
@DanielsASJ No, I don't love someone who lets him be treated as a false god
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@val70 Can you show me one example of what you are accusing him for?
@val70 He's not posing himself as a god. He puts God above all else and prays for our nation. Nobody said he was a god and no one treats him as a god.
