The Christian perspective is that we don't 'deserve' any good thing from God and when something 'good' does happen to us we say thank you much like a child says thank you for a gift.

@hippyjoe1955 Even my parakeets know to say Thank You when they are given something even a compliment. I was bragging on how beautiful Boo-Boo was singing when he was warbling a couple days ago and he replied “Well, Thank You!”

@SandWitch no I am referring to orthodox understanding. Sadly there is a lot of neoChristisnity that denies man's likely estate and thus diminishes God in the process.

@SandWitch orthodox = right faith. Holds that mankind is utterly corrupt and undeserving of any mercy or grace from God an thus God's overwhelming Grace and Mercy is His gift for us.
