Close, but I think like every other human being on this earth, sometimes God does feel far away, but actually he's not. It's actually us moving further away from him, because he never leaves us. And we must remember that we do not base our closeness to God on feelings, but faith. It's just that sometimes we neglect to pray to God and fellowship with him or even read our Bible and that is what really our spirit Longs for and needs, which results in us not feeling as close to God.
